Position Summary

Position Summary:

 

Directs financial and accounting activities of the organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors

Primary Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establishes, or recommends to management, major corporate economic strategies, objectives, and policies for company.
  • Recommends modifications to existing corporate programs.
  • Prepares reports which summarize company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  • Advises management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
  • Provides management with timely reviews of organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities.
  • Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
  • Arranges for audits of company's accounts.
  • Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies, if needed.
  • Review monthly operations report from Lonoke, Ilion and Huntsville
  • Other involvement with manufacturing locations
  • Visit plants
  • Ownership of month-end close-outs
  • Supervise Corporate Departments
  • Review/analyze working capital metrics – primarily inventory and accounts payable to determine trends, “problem areas”, etc.
  • Accumulate and review reports and information for reference purposes
  • IBNR Account Maintenance
  • Review 10-K and 10-Q as part of disclosure committee
  • Implementation of Technical Accounting Pronouncements
  • Other special/strategic projects

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of direct reporting units.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees
    • Planning, assigning, and directing work
    • Appraising performance
    • Rewarding and disciplining employees
    • Addressing complaints and resolving problems

Skills and Education Required

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
  • 10 years of public accounting or private company experience
  • CPA License preferred

 

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

 

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
