Direct, communicate, coordinate, and support HSE, Compliance, Quality, Operations, Product Management and R&D staff to develop, purchase or oversee manufacture of, implement, maintain & improve production processes with the highest levels of safety, quality & compliance while maintaining the lowest possible total manufacturing cost
Principal Duties and Accountabilities (*Essential Functions)
Responsible for the actions and development for all employees in the site engineering groups.
Direct and insure engineering support manufacturing.
Formulate and be responsible for the departmental budget.
Develop organization with Lean Principles and be an agent for change
Train and assign engineering personnel to maximize support to production while developing the technical skills of the group.
Develop career paths for both management and technical assignments.
Direct all new/current product and production projects to achieve scheduled dates of project implementation(s). Utilize Microsoft Project & project management skills to create & maintain project plans, balance resources & prevent & detect schedule slips.
Direct analysis of products, equipment specifications, and performance requirements, to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing processes.
Review feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering cost, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors. Develop Scopes of Work and Performance Criteria documentation.
Assess manufacturability of component designs.
Insure the maintenance and continual improvement of technical information (i.e. process records, model drawings, SOP’s, tool and fixture drawings) as needed to support manufacturing operations.
Support work to develop process improvements and enhancements to maximize production and quality.
Provide technical assistance to component and tooling suppliers.

Educational Skills and Experience:

Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent, and a minimum of 10 years experience of manufacturing engineering experience.
Extensive knowledge of machining and metalworking principles. Must have in-depth understanding of advanced metrology and GD&T.
Experience in technical management, and proven performance in process and project management.
Ability to organize and lead complex projects. Must possess a strong knowledge of machining, metalworking principles, and project management.
Ability to write reports, standard operating procedures and effectively present information to top management.
Must be able to travel and attend off-plant training.
Lean manufacturing experience is beneficial.
