Position Summary

Responsible for the coordination and completion of BATF&E Compliance Procedures as prescribed in the Remington Federal and State Firearms Policy and Procedure.  Institutes and follows best practices to ensure full compliance with government regulations and laws. Responsible for site security in accordance with corporate policy and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Stays current on all compliance requirements in order to keep management and supervisors informed and up to date; makes recommendations on any necessary actions to be taken.
  • Ensures compliance with all domestic federal, state and local Firearms regulations including the Gun Control Act of 1968, the National Firearms Act, and the Arms Export Control Act of 1976.  Specifically, these regulations include, but are not limited, to the following:
  • Licensing,
  • Firearms / Silencers markings,
  • Acquisition & Disposition electronic recordkeeping accuracy,
  • Customer and Vendor licensing tracking and maintenance,
  • Regulatory reporting including ATF Forms 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 4473, etc.,
  • Agency tracing requests,
  • Maintains secure files with ATF regulatory records in accordance with the mandated retention policy.
  • Tracks transfers of demonstration firearms and silencers among Company employees.
  • Coordinates and monitors compliance through the use of corporate policies including the Remington Federal and State Firearms Policy & Procedure.
  • Makes recommendations to Management regarding changes and improvements in operations to achieve more effective and streamlined compliance.
  • Suggests updates and additions to the Remington Federal and State Firearms Policy & Procedure document.
  • Participates in and conducts cycle count and internal audit activities in conjunction with the Manager, Corporate Firearms Compliance.
  • Coordinates the remediation of deficiencies discovered during audits and sources other operational personnel in remediation efforts.
  • Participates in projects applicable to ATF compliance.
  • Develops and maintains a central repository of procedures for reconciliation of all ATF forms.
  • Coordinates with Corporate International Customer Service Group to facilitate processing of international orders.
  • Regularly performs reconciliations of the Company’s records with NFA registrations per ATF records.  Performs any related research and necessary remediation.
  • Participates in special projects, as required.
  • Coordinates with production to perform cycle counts in an efficient and timely manner to meet the needs of materials management.  Analyzes and investigates any differences to determine causes, and then makes the appropriate adjustments.
  • Performs annual inventory and other duties as assigned.  
  • Follows all departmental and plant safety rules and regulations.  
  • Develops and maintains ability to visually identify product at its various stages and relate this to its location in the inventory tracking system.
  • Keeps Controller and Production Manager informed as to inventory accuracy and causes for any discrepancies found on each cycle count.  Offers suggestions for improving inventory accuracy.
  • Informs the Controller and Production Manager of any unusual adjustments, which may result in immediate changes to the production schedule.
  • Uses Microsoft Excel worksheets to report cycle count results and to measure accuracy performance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area with at least 2 years relatable experience

 

  • Or equivalent related experience and/or training

 

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills                        

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

 

Reasoning Ability                        

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Computer Skills                        

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:
    • Accounting software
    • Spreadsheet software
    • Word Processing software.

 

Other Qualifications

  • Ability to coordinate certain efforts with third party advisors including auditors, consultants and legal counsel.
  • Ability to travel to plant locations and other seminar sponsored sites (between 2 and 4 weeks per year).
