Manage the material procurement processes with both domestic and foreign sources for any raw direct or subcontract materials including but not limited to metals, machined components, stampings, castings, injection molding, forgings, fasteners/pins, corrugated/packaging, finishing operations, and purchased fabricated subassembly requirements. Develop and support production, purchasing and inventory plans per established guidelines and metrics. Define and implement the aforementioned guidelines and metrics for the respective area of responsibility. Work closely with production management and suppliers to ensure material floor supports the master production schedule in a cost effective manner.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities (*Essential Functions)
Analyze, maintain and execute plant materials requirement from MRP
Analyze planning data in SAP and adjust requirements accordingly notifying the appropriate supplier
Maintain supplier reporting systems
Process purchase requisitions into purchase orders and schedule agreements (SA).
Release and maintain purchase orders & SA in support of production schedules for assigned commodities
Maintain constant continuity of supply of all purchased or in house manufactured components and recovery plans with 8D corrective actions when necessary.
Work with internal team and suppliers to create lean value streams with suppliers and internal operations.
Functions as liaison between Remington & suppliers for all procurement related issues; i.e., continuity of supply, production schedules, rejections, corrective actions, discrepancies, evaluations
Interfaces with suppliers on a daily basis via phone, fax, email, and in-person to maintain a favorable supplier relationship and to ensure on-time delivery of product
Assist in the forecasting of on hand inventory plan and take action to achieve forecast.
Take daily action to meet KPI’s as defined by Management.
Monitor inventory for assigned commodities to optimize working capital
Utilize materials management tools in SAP and external such as Kanban etc…
Performs other duties as assigned by manager
Manage materials requirement changes resulting in Design Change Requests (DCR) .
Participate with New Products team members to launch new products at the HSV plants.
Maintain sections of SAP as assigned by management. (ex. lead-time, lot size, etc).
Adhere to policy and procedure related to cost increases and suppliers additions.
Effectively report supply issues in a timely manner to manager. (Elevation Wheel).
With direction from the Master Scheduler and Engineering New Products Engineer, coordinate the building, review and shipping of sample guns requested by marketing and sales. Do the same with all new product qualification builds.
Communicate status and schedule of sample guns to fellow team members.
Expedite sample guns as required.
Analyze the SAP information and reports that are driven by the daily processing of MRP.
Create production plans by scheduling the timing of planned and released production orders so that the demand on the respective work centers is loaded efficiently.
Release manufacturing orders, using judgment to adjust timing and order size to level workloads and optimize WIP to insure smooth workflow.
Reschedule released manufacturing and purchase orders as required and appropriate based upon the daily review of SAP exception reports.
Work with the Production Planner Analyst, Master Scheduler and Production management to help identify and eliminate capacity constraints.
Seek input and feedback from production supervisors and Planner Analysts when creating production schedules.
Participate in the review, root cause and corrective action for all issues that prohibit us from delivering to the master production schedule and in turn the exact product our customer desires.
Participate in the “what if” process to review proposed production changes, share the information with all team members so that the group can create the most effective production scheduled.
Expeditiously communicate unforeseen changes in production requirements and create appropriate recovery production schedules (i.e. parts are scrapped and new orders are required immediately).
Request physical inventory counts as necessary.
Participate in the annual Facility side physical inventory.
With guidance from Planner Analyst and/or the Master Scheduler review internal delivery promises and prepare anticipated delay/expedite reports and production plan recovery schedules if necessary.
Assist manufacturing management in setting priorities and leveling workflow.
Communicate priorities to all appropriate production Supervisors and team members throughout the operations. Expedite all respective parts as necessary.
Maintain respective material master files in SAP with the assistance of the Production Planner Analyst and/or the Master Scheduler.
Work with Quality, Engineering and Production members to address any and all quality related issues.
Plan production in a manner that will not create excess or obsolete inventory. Work to disposition any inventory that has been deemed excess and obsolete.
Participate in the cut in of new components and maximize the utilization of the components being replaced.
Plan and monitor 1A, 2A, trial and pilot production orders in an effort to launch new products on time
Participate in new planning and inventory control initiatives and team activities as required.
Promote the development of team work.
Follows all plant safety rules and regulations.
Educational Skills and Experience

B.A. or B.S. in related field and 3-5 years experience in purchasing aforementioned commodities and/or in a medium to high volume manufacturing and assembly work environment. CPM or CPIM and Lean manufacturing experience desired but not mandatory. Sourcing experience a plus. Certification in purchasing or materials desired.
Experience in SAP Systems. Exceptional communication skills, strong project management/team leadership skills. Excellent computer skills in Excel, Word, Outlook and MS Project.
