  • Position Summary

    Manufacturing management - responsible for safety, compliance, quality, delivery and competitive (cost) improvement performance.  Thinking ahead, communicating to achieve buy-in, organizing with clear roles/responsibilities, driving an appropriate and effective cadence.  Detection and prevention of problems. Problem solving and corrective action.

     

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Develops metrics and executes plans to achieve metric targets for Safety, Compliance, Quality, Customer (Delivery) and Competitive (Cost) within assigned value streams and work centers.
    • Makes recommendations for, and directs implementation and execution of, manufacturing policies and practices for areas of responsibility.
    • Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and labor.  Forward planning to align all the necessary resources (man, machine and material) to ensure safe, orderly and efficient production.
    • Reviews production costs, product quality, and production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitability of operations. Develops and executes error-proofing initiatives.
    • Builds, develops and manages an operating leadership team capable of establishing and executing operations strategies and improving employee relations.
    • Plans and oversees budgeting process for area of responsibility.
    • Detects and prevent safety incidents.  Promote and enforce company safety policies.

    Skills and Education Required

    • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, preferably in a technical field; 5 to 10 years of progressive, related manufacturing experience and responsibilities in supervisory positions; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Highly developed leadership skills with demonstrated ability to achieve results through others.   
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to present information either in written or verbal format to insure understanding.
    • Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple priorities.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and implement solutions at both a strategic and functional level.
    • Technical skills in lean manufacturing techniques, process improvement, materials management and production scheduling.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Products (Excel, Word, Access)
    • Experience in managing a union environment preferred.
