  • Position Summary

    Position Summary:

    The core responsibilities of this role are to set-up capital projects, maintain the SAP fixed asset subledger with details/supporting data, record and reconcile fixed assets to the general ledger, ensure timely capitalization of assets, work with project managers to ensure projects are capitalized on a timely basis and support the accounting department and plant sites for ensuring accuracy in monthly financial reporting. The role will also lead the Capital Council process for approving project spend as well as ensuring adherence to capital spend budgets.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Accurate accounting, reporting, controlling and safeguarding of the Company’s fixed assets.
    • Establish/amend capital related policies and procedures and ensure compliance against these.
    • Maintain the fixed asset subledger, including additions, disposals, depreciation, held for sale items, etc.
    • Prepare fixed asset account rollforwards and general ledger reconciliations for accounts of responsibility, including monitoring such accounts for proper accounting under GAAP.
    • Prepare management presentations on the status of the Company’s state and municipal grant incentives and ensure accounting treatment is in accordance with GAAP.
    • Support the month-end close process to ensure all financial deadlines are met, including the creation of journal entries and month-end account reconciliations in a timely manner.
    • Coordinate fixed asset inventory observations to confirm the existence and completeness of all Company fixed assets.
    • Act as a liaison between all manufacturing plants and management for capital project requests.
    • Provide Corporate oversight of Capital Asset Requisitions (CARs) and ensure timely feedback and trackability.
    • Analyze inputs and estimates used in return on investment amounts provided by plant sites.
    • Act as back-up for month-end closing procedures and reconciliation procedures as defined by the Controllership department.
    • Ensure appropriate GAAP accounting for all leased assets under operating or capital lease, while maintaining lease agreements within the department.
    • Compile support for external audits and related requests.
    • Responsible for implementing, monitoring and enhancing accounting procedures and internal controls.
    • Assist in preparation of periodic, quarterly, and annual SEC reports.
    • Perform accounting and reporting research in accordance with GAAP and SEC guidance, including drafting of technical memos to document conclusions reached.
    • Support management through ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and special projects as assigned.
    • Ensure compliance with Company’s policies and procedures.

    • No direct supervisory responsibilities but help direct staff/senior accountants in the performance of their duties

    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university
    • Four or more years related experience and/or training
    • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
