  • Position Summary

    The Senior Network Administrator designs and implements network and unified messaging solutions across the ROC Infrastructure environment.  

     

    Actively monitors logs, generated alerts and customer requests to ensure development/deployment of timely solutions.  Looks for situations that provide opportunity to deliver proactive solutions for maximizing performance of the ROC Infrastructure.

     

    Interacts with External Partners for design of new network infrastructure and resolution of situations affecting Infrastructure performance.

     

    Acts as key network and communications resource to provide support, investigation and guidance for ROC and the IT team.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Network Monitoring:
      • monitoring network and systems to ensure proper operation and performance;
      • conducting evaluation and resolution of identified issues;
      • reviewing logs, alerts and customer requests to verify proper utilization, throughput and configuration;
      • collaboration with other Team Members to resolve cross-functional situations needing attention
      • and continuous evaluation of network and system for alignment with business requirements.
    • Network Design & Architecture:
      • Develop solutions to enhance and expand existing network/communications infrastructure;
      • Evaluate emerging network trends and apply these as needed into the existing Infrastructure;
      • and research overall environment to ensure integration with security and legacy application.
    • Telecommunications:
      • Interact with external partners to ensure proper operation of network and communications across ROC environment;
      • Develop solutions to expand telecommunications related to voice and data requirements
      • and provide technical guidance/support.
    • Unified Messaging:
      • Review and enhance Unified Messaging environment to ensure business communications are available; Ensure appropriate network segmentation and QoS configurations are correctly deployed
      • Develop solutions to enhance and integrate existing PBX infrastructure with focus on Unified Messaging
      • Provide resolution to IT and business customer’s issues;
      • and develop roadmap to prevent obsolescence of Unified Messaging environment.
    • Compliance:
      • maintains alignment with corporate security, information technology and ROC policies,
      • NIST 800-171 and other regulations for government contractors,
      • utilize network and communications best practices;  
      • develops SOPs as new capabilities are deployed.
    • Additional Activities:
      • Performs installation, configuration and integration of hardware and software applications
      • Maintains current environment through application of firmware upgrades, patches and OS level migration
      • Tracks EOL for network/communications hardware/software and develops roadmap to prevent obsolescence and loss of support
      • Collaborates with IT organization (Infrastructure, Software Applications, Security and Governance) to ensure alignment with each discipline’s requirements
      • Communicates proactively on any issues and provides expectation of return to service
      • Researches emerging network trends and practices relevant to the ROC environment with focus on determining alignment with business requirements

     

    Skills and Education Required

    • BA or BS in computer science, information technology, engineering or other-related field is required.  
    • Master’s in Information Technology or Cisco certification(s) is a plus.

     

      • 4-7 years of hands-on experience with different aspects of Information and Network Technology to include:
        • Unified Messaging Integration
        • Wide Area Networks (WANs)
        • Network Firewalls and Switches
        • Wireless Networking
        • Telecommunications/PBX
        • Remote Communications Integration
        • Advanced DNS Support for Public Domains
        • DNS
      • Solid understanding of the latest network principles, techniques, and protocols.
      • Ability to clearly explain technical concepts in a way that business users and other IT members can easily understand.
      • Expertise in collaborating with cross-functional teams; including during stressful situations and under pressure.

     

    • Exceptional communication proficiency amongst diverse audiences.
