Overall responsibility to support and provide oversight for the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Programs to ensure regulatory compliance with all applicable (local, state, federal, etc.) regulations (laws, statutes, ordinances, etc.). Develop and promote EHS programs and objectives. Develop and provide training programs. Support and provide leadership and continuous improvement activities.
Provide supervision and oversight to develop and implement environmental/safety policies and procedures to ensure company compliance with applicable rules and regulations.

Lead and conduct investigations; identify root causes; make recommendations; determine appropriate corrective actions; drive completion and sustainment of corrective actions. Distribute and share learnings to others internally and externally.
Determine and maintain Key Performance Indicator (KPI) information including boards, postings, Ops Reviews, and similar reporting.
Initiate and manage projects to improve efficiency and reduce wastes and costs.

Represent the best interests of the company. Supports company efforts to increase business; including meeting requirements for governmental contract proposals.

Ensures compliance with all applicable federal state and local environmental regulations and ensures necessary records are prepared, kept, and maintained and according to established guidelines and standards.
Responsible for preparing all required permit applications/conditions, and managing all plant activities to assure compliance with resultant permits. Prepare all required compliance monitoring reports.
Responsible for all Plant solid, hazardous, and recyclable waste, including the proper identification, characterization, and disposal thereof, and related DOT shipping requirements (i.e. RCRA).
Responsible for compiling and submitting hazardous waste, wastewater, stormwater and air compliance reports required by environmental regulatory agencies (i.e. NPDES, SWPPP).
Recognize any reportable spills or releases of hazardous substances, and file appropriate reports with federal, state, and local agencies (i.e. SPCC).
Responsible for all records, monitoring results, annual reports, and compliance plans, etc., required by regulations and permit conditions (Annual Air Emission, TRI, Tier II).
Liaison with local agencies for environmental issues (i.e. Sanitary District, Recycling).
Maintains safety performance records (i.e. KPIs).
Assure that all required inspections and plan updates are performed and recorded on schedule. Submit taxes and environmental program fee payments on schedule.
Health & Safety
Ensures compliance with all applicable federal state and local safety regulations and ensures necessary records are prepared, kept, and maintained and according to established guidelines and standards.
Coordinate safety and health programs, including development and implementation of manuals, training, safety committee, etc. and ensure all health and safety guidelines are followed.
Supervises, participates and develops the training of employees on safety policies, procedures, regulations.
Oversee and perform monitoring and testing; including but not limited to air flows, water flows, IH sampling; and affilitated record-keeping and reporting.
Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other regulatory inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.
Liaison with local agencies for emergency response (i.e. EMS services)
Keeps and maintains regulatory records (i.e. OSHA logs and forms) and safety performance records. Responsible for compiling and submitting accident/injury reports required by regulatory agencies.
Works with the HR Manager & Medical to compile and submit accident reports required by regulatory agencies and insurance providers; oversees the administration of workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce recordables and employee lost time (i.e. point of contact for Workers Compensation).
Leads efforts for hazard awareness and indentificaiton in workplace (i.e. BBS); prepares studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and health hazards for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
Plans and implements environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures to ensure that the facility is in compliance with local, state, and federal agencies including applicable rules and regulations of Occupational Safety and Health Administration(OSHA), US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), State Environmental Agency, and Department of Homeland Security(DHS).
Provide leadership and oversight to develop and implement safety training programs, including training managers, supervisors, and employees in work site safety, fire prevention, chemical handling, safe equipment use, safety modules, RCRA, HazMat, DOT, OSHA 10/30 etc., forklifts, new hire orientation, and related topics.
Develops, plans and implements programs to train managers, supervisors and employees in work-site safety practices, hazard recognition and control and environmental compliance.
Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
Support corporate environmental health and safety efforts and compile other environmental reports as requested by the EHS Manager and/or EHS Director.
Be a point of contact for interactions with federal, state, local environmental and safety regulatory agencies and site inspections. Coordinate and reply to any federal or state Superfund inquiries.
Maintain a current knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, and maintain resources and networks to augment that knowledge. Maintain required annual training certifications.
Represents the organization in community or industry safety and environmental groups and programs.
Audit organizational facilities to detect potential hazards and prevent incidents. Audits organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented (i.e. Completes internal audits, including Layered Process Audits (LPAs), GEMBA walks, safety and environmental focused audits).
Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
Create, standardize, implement and sustain policies and manuals (i.e Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions).

Requires a bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
