  • Position Summary

    POSITION SUMMARY:

     

    Responsible for the overall maintenance of the building and grounds.   This includes compliance with regulatory agencies in utilities usage, building codes, and waste management.  Works collaboratively with leadership & cross functional peers, including health, safety, environmental, engineering, operations, human resources and finance to manage & continuously improve the preventative, predictive reliability & reactive asset management programs. 

     

    Primary Responsibilities

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES (*ESSENTIAL FUNCITONS):

     

    • Oversee & continuously improve the preventative, predictive, reactive maintenance programs

    • Mentor staff & maintenance team members in regards, to root cause analysis & continuous improvement culture & methodologies.

    • Provide direction to the supervisor(s) in managing the basic requirements of the building (i.e. hygiene, water, electricity, air conditioning/HVAC, etc.)

    • Will support preparation of and operation within annual budget for operating supplies, electricity, gas, water and sewer and adhere to flex budget. 

    • Manages multi-craft activities involved in preventive, predictive, scheduled, and emergency maintenance, cleaning, repair, and renovation of buildings, mechanical systems, physical plant, and grounds

    • Develops and establishes policies and objectives consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient operation of individual operating units

    • Provide support to the supervisor(s) in conducting all interviewing, hiring, training, disciplining and termination of maintenance employees.

    • Assist with developing and conducting all performance reviews and salary recommendations for maintenance employees.

    • Work with peers to facilitate team-oriented approach, combining the expertise and manpower of all departments for the completion projects

    • Keep up on technological changes such as retrofitting machinery to meet today’s new laws and efficiency standards

    • Will provide resources, training and development opportunities to the supervisor(s) and Maintenance Technicians to ensure team is up to date on technology and new developments

    • Maintain plan for fire evacuation and disaster response (serve as facility emergency response coordinator)

    • Coordinate with Group Leader for any and all contracted work at facility.

    • Identify, coordinate, and manage all plant activities necessary to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations, and related company policies.

    • Will partner with Health, Safety, Environmental & Human Resources in responsibility for managing Safety, Health & Environment improvement activities at the facility. 

    • Will work with HR and plant teams to develop strategy and improvement plans in order to achieve sustainable excellence by reducing injuries, illnesses and environmental impact as measured in the core KPIs. 

    • Will assist in driving safety and environment risk assessment and develop/implement appropriate controls
    • Will identify continuous improvement opportunities for reducing the environmental impact in the areas of COD, hazardous & non-hazardous waste, SOX & CO2 emissions and water & energy consumption 
    • Conduct trend analysis from incidents, near misses, safe behavior observations and compliance audits

    Skills and Education Required

    QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

    2-year degree and /or equivalent experience in related field.  Minimum of 10 years of experience in a leadership role in a facilities maintenance capacity in a manufacturing facility.  BS degree in safety, engineering or related field preferred.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

     

    • Must be capable of working different and extended schedules.
    • Capable of standing or walking for seven hours a day.
    • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, carry or lift up to 30 lbs.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

     

    • Moderate to fast pace work environment in many factoring
    • Work around moving machinery.

     

    • Exposure to dust, fumes and chemicals.

     

    Employees may encounter hazardous wastes during the course of their work.  Hazardous wastes are to be handled appropriately; including applicable use of PPE, placement into compatible containers, container labeling and marking; etc.  Additionally, wastes may need to be transported to/from satellite accumulation areas to 90-day accumulation area; via dolly, forklift, etc. All employees working with, handling, or managing hazardous wastes will receive annual RCRA training. Those employees preparing waste for shipment will receive additional trainings (DOT).
