  • Position Summary

    Position Summary:

     

    The Accounting Manager will be primarily responsible for oversight of the accounting function. This role will also be responsible for researching and documenting technical analyses of complex transactions and monitoring and implementing new accounting standards to ensure the Company is reporting is in accordance US GAAP. This position will also support the Corporate Controller in the preparation of technical monthly general ledger account reconciliations, month-end journal entries, and monthly management reports.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Primary Responsibilities:

    (*Essential Functions) include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    • Research and analyze business transactions and related structures and provide technical accounting guidance to senior business executives across the organization. Review monthly general ledger account reconciliations and journal entries
    • Lead the implementation of newly issued accounting standards for Revenue Recognition and Lease Accounting
    • Maintain schedule of leased assets and ensure appropriate accounting in accordance with GAAP
    • Ensure company-wide accounting policies are compliant with existing & newly approved accounting standards and regulations
    • Communicates new and emerging technical accounting policy developments and related regulatory developments to managers and executives
    • Coordinate review of monthly balance sheet and income statement, general ledger account reconciliations and journal entries
    • Coordinate and support the reporting of insurance claim payments to the Risk Management department
    • Manage and coordinate the completion of audit related materials for Grant Thornton
    • Prepare and / or review management reports completed on a monthly and quarterly basis
    • Implement and drive process improvements and efficiencies in the reporting process
    • Coordinate and perform the analytical monthly review with the accounting staff and Corporate Controller
    • Complete monthly roll forwards of Retirement Accounts, equity transactions and Other Comprehensive Income
    • Perform and / or review fixed asset rollforwards
    • Prepare EBITDA reporting schedule and related support binder
    • Assist other Remington departments with Accounting related requests

    • Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • Directly supervises two employees in the Accounting department.

    • Carries out manager responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
    • A combination of five to seven years of public accounting and industry-related experience with a minimum of 3 years of managing direct reports. 
    • CPA required. 

     

    Language Skills:                        

    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


    Mathematical Skills:    

    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  
    • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

     

    Reasoning Ability:                        

    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

     

    Computer Skills:                        

    • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of SAP Accounting software.

     

    Other Qualifications:                        

    • Bachelor's Degree with adequate Accounting job experience and course work, minimum.

     

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

    • CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
