  • Position Summary

    Position Summary:

     

    Responsible for insuring the accuracy and timeliness of the Trial Balance, all general accounting related information, and the monthly closing activities including the establishment and initiation of all necessary policies and procedures required to accomplish this task.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Manages the daily activities of the Cashier and General Accounting functions for the Dakota Arms Facility and all other related businesses under the accounting control of the Corporate Controller.
    • Audits the effectiveness of all processes under direct supervision and those which support the various general accounting functions identifying areas of weakness in internal controls and subsequently developing and instituting improvements where necessary.
    • Responsible for the financial and informational integrity of the General Ledger.
    • Follows formally, all necessary policies and procedures required to insure the accuracy and timeliness of all general ledger transactions and reporting.
    • Acts as the liaison with Corporate Accounting on all general accounting issues including but not limited to establishment and adherence of mutual monthly closing activities and development of overall company policy relating to Trial Balance activities.
    • Assist all levels of management in understanding the workings of the General Ledger. 
    • Responsible for the timely completion of Trial Balance account reconciliations including the submission of said to Corporate Accounting on a monthly basis.
    • Performs analysis such as vendor payments, freight, utility trends, departmental spending; involved in financial operations forecast, annual physical inventory; annual plant operations budget, and other tasks as required.
    • Responsible for inspecting all Nesika products for compliance with customer specifications.
    • As a part of the plant management team, is required to follow and enforce all established company policies and procedures.
    • Follows all plant safety rules and regulations
    • In collaboration with the Corporate Controller, is responsible for establishing job performance standards, expectations, and measures for all persons under his/her supervision including providing ongoing feedback for each employee relating to their performance against those expectations.
    • Maintain cash journal
    • Establish and maintain standard costing system
    • Analysis of any manufacturing variances
    • In collaboration with the Corporate Controller and appropriate Human Resources personnel, may initiate disciplinary action against direct reports who are not meeting the minimum job expectations in accordance with established company guidelines.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
    • Or related field
    • Two to four years related experience and/or training
    • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  
    • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  
    • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  
    • Ability to effectively present information to all levels of employees including top management.

     

    Mathematical Skills: 

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
    • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
    • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions furnished in written, oral, mathematical, schedule or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.  
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
