Create production schedules that enable the team to meet the master production schedule in a manner that allows the respective areas to maximize quality, efficiency and utilization of resources and deliver the correct product to our customers in the required time period. Analyze component and subassembly requirements driven by SAP. Develop and manage supporting production and inventory control plans per established guidelines and metrics. Work closely with production management to ensure material flow supports the master production schedule in a cost-effective manner.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES (*ESSENTIAL FUNCITONS):

Identify and work to improve upon the production capabilities and constraints for the respective areas. Share this information with all team members in an effort to create effective and efficient production schedules.
Propose solutions to problems and ask for help, guidance and advice as needed.
Participate in the review, root cause and corrective action for all issues that prohibit us from delivering to the master production schedule and in turn the exact product our customer desires.
Work with the team to eliminate all production constraints and bottleneck work centers.
Analyze the SAP information and reports that are driven by the daily processing of MRP. Create monthly, weekly and daily production plans by scheduling the timing of planned and released production orders so that the demand on the respective work centers is loaded efficiently and designed to meet the specific requirements of the Master Schedule.
Seek input and feedback from Production Supervisors and Production Planners in creating production schedules. Finalize specific monthly plans with the respective Production Area Managers.
Release manufacturing and purchase orders, using judgment to adjust timing and order size to level workloads and optimize WIP to insure smooth workflow.
Reschedule released manufacturing and purchase orders as required and appropriate based upon the daily review of SAP exception reports.
Participate in the “what if” process to review proposed production changes, share the information with all team members so that the group can create the most effective production scheduled.
Expeditiously communicate unforeseen changes in production requirements and create appropriate recovery production schedules (i.e. parts are scrapped, and new orders are required immediately.)
Request physical inventory counts as necessary.
Participate in the annual Facility wide physical inventory.
Review internal delivery promises and prepare anticipated delay/expedite reports and production plan recovery schedules if necessary.
Assist manufacturing management in setting priorities and leveling workflow.
Communicate priorities to all appropriate production Supervisors and team members throughout the operations. Expedite all respective parts as necessary.
Immediately communicate any issues that prohibit the team from meeting our goals and objectives.
Maintain respective material master files in SAP with the assistance of the Production Planners and/or the Master Schedulers.
Work with Quality, Engineering and Production members to address all quality related issues.
Work with the team to communicate quality and delivery issues to internal team members.
Work with the Production Planners to determine optimum inventory levels to support the manufacturing plan and inventory goals and objectives.
Analyze and set safety stock levels and minimum order sizes with the assistance of the Production Planners and/or Master Schedulers.
Plan production in a manner that will not create excess or obsolete inventory. Work to disposition any inventory that has been deemed excess and obsolete.
Participate in the cut in of new components and maximize the utilization of the components being replaced.
Plan and monitor trial and pilot production orders in an effort to launch new products on time.
Participate in new planning and inventory control initiatives (i.e. 870 Velocity Program) and team activities as required.
Will cross train to be able to substitute for other team members as necessary.
Identify inventory processing and operational errors.
Always strive to improve the Operation and suggest changes.
Continue to study and learn the SAP System in an effort to fully utilize the systemic tools in performing the daily functions of the job.
Work with the team to suggest methods to reduce on-hand inventory quantities and overall operational costs.
Follow all departmental and plant safety rules and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

At least 3-5 years of previous experience in a similar role.
Associate in Applied Science AAS with a major in Business or related field preferred but not mandatory. Related experience working in a similar dynamic manufacturing environment is helpful.
Able to work both in a team environment and as an individual contributor.
Ability to use SAP system as it relates to production control and materials management.
Understand capacity constraints and work with the Production Planner and Master Scheduler to eliminate.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, MSDS sheets, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to understand manufacturing operations and products in an effort to create smooth flowing production schedules that are free of constraints and overloaded work centers.
Must understand basic materials management, production planning and inventory control techniques.
Proficient in the use of personal computer and current common business software such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and implement corrective actions.
Service and results oriented with a sense of urgency and bias for action.

Office environment with regular need to be out on the manufacturing floor.
Employees may encounter hazardous wastes during the course of their work. Hazardous wastes are to be handled appropriately; including applicable use of PPE, placement into compatible containers, container labeling and marking; etc. Additionally, wastes may need to be transported to/from satellite accumulation areas to 90-day accumulation area; via dolly, forklift, etc. All employees working with, handling, or managing hazardous wastes will receive annual RCRA training. Those employees preparing waste for shipment will receive additional trainings (DOT).
