Position Summary

Position Summary:

Responsible for the development, application and maintenance of quality system requirements for purchased production components and services including subcontracted items. Supports the Director of Strategic Sourcing & Supply Chain Management with identification of potential performance improvement opportunities within the supply base for all Remington Outdoor Company (Remington Arms, Marlin, Advanced Armament, Dakota Arms, Remington Defense, Barnes Bullets) locations. Assists corporate and manufacturing plant teams with the verification of supply base processes and systems that affect product delivery, quality, performance and cost.

  • Interacts routinely with Sourcing, R&D Engineering and Suppliers to improve product, process, delivery and quality.
  • Must be able to communicate and interact with multiple disciplines across the organization.
  • Must be self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have demonstrated the ability to communicate to internal and external team members from shop floor level to senior executives.
  • Must be able to effectively represent Remington product and process requirements in a positive manner to multiple supply base disciplines.
  • Must have the ability to communicate compliance requirements outlined in the Remington Supplier Quality Manual across a diverse supply base.
  • Continually work with suppliers to identify product performance, process control(s), and delivery activities targeted to cost reduction initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully perform Supplier Assessments (remotely and on-site).
  • Responsible for database maintenance and updates at conclusion of assessment process.
  • Analyzes supplier direct manufacturing and indirect support capabilities. 
  • Supports requests and defines requirements as appropriate for First Article Samples (FAI).
  • Identifies requirements and receives, maintains and approves supplier part approval process submissions (PPAP). 
  • Coordinates with plant operations and corporate sourcing team(s) to develop and maintain supplier quality metrics.
  • Works with both internal and external project / product work teams to define deliverables, planning, and resources required for successful implementation. 
  • Supports plant operations with Non-Conforming Material Report (NCMR) and Supplier Corrective Action Report (8D) activity.
  • Must have the ability to identify and communicate alternative solutions with both internal and external team(s) to resolve commercial concerns.
  • Initiates and coordinates the Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) function per the Remington Product Development System (RPDS) deliverables.
  • Provides technical training to other employees when required. 
  • Serves as a quality assurance resource to department supervision for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting, and continuous improvement as it relates to parts and services supplied to all ROC operations.

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality, Mechanical Engineering or related field and a minimum of 5 to 7 years quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • ASQ certification, Six Sigma, CPM or CPIM certifications preferred but not mandatory.
  • Must have good interpersonal, written, verbal, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with application and implementation of Quality Management Systems (QMS) such as ISO-9000, IATF 16949, AS 9100, ISO 13485.
  • Ability to read and interpret design records, engineering drawings.
  • Thorough understanding of Statistical Analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) controls and process.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, such as Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.  
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions across multiple disciplines.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
